For some reason I have a really hard time just playing with sewing. I love to sew, but I always feel like I need something really practical to sew. I brought out my new machine (a Viking Emerald 116) for Saturdays craft day and did not sew anything. The machine was never even turned on. I did have a really great day visiting with friends though. So yesterday I finally broke it in. I made two tote bags. That was really fun. I have all these awesome sewing books with great stuff to sew. I just wish I didn't feel like everything had to have a specific purpose. There is a doll in one of my books that Maggie really wants me to make. It actually looks uncomplicated which is perfect for me. I'm not sure if that is the next project I will do or not. Either way I hope to post a picture of something that I made just for the "fun" of it.
Since I am not taking a good picture of my tote bags here is just a random photo of someone who always likes to play.

I just picked up my new sewing machine. I am so excited. I have never had a brand-spankin' new machine before. I take that back I have, but this one is just so awesome. This machine is so nice and smooth. I can't wait to get started on some new projects! I have many skirts in mind for spring and probably a few dresses too. Also I think I want to make another purse or two. With the new machine it should be a bit easier. Plus with a new machine I have to get some new books! I am really excited. I love Posie Gets Cozy and am really excited to try some of Alicia's projects in her book. The other book Free-Style Handmade Skirts and Bags just has the most amazing photos. I love it. Then the Suki iron-ons. I have a ton of t-shirts that need something.
I will be posting photos of what I create in my art studio and my sewing space. More to come soon!
P.S. Sorry for the rather crummy photos.

I am back. This cold wiped everyone out at my house. At least the kids and I. Luckily for Josh he was able to avoid it. We are all on the mend now. I think mine is pretty much gone. The kids still have a bit of a cold and cough.
I finally made it out to the studio. I tried a little painting, but nothing was really flowing. So I took some pictures of my studio. I try to keep it fairly organized. When I look at it through my pictures it looks pretty messy. For me it works. I know where everything is and have the things I need the most close at hand. So there is a little glimpse at where I work through the eye of Polardroid.

...and it isn't. So here is what I did today. I am so unimpressed. I was trying to think of something, but I am tired. This is what happens when I am tired. Blaaah. So I will try again tomorrow (hopefully I won't be awake at 4am!) I guess when you are feeling lazy and not sure if you can come up with something you just have to do it. So I did.

Today I am just not feeling like doing anything. I don't really feel like making anything, nothing. No pictures, no food, nada. It might be because I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep. Or it could be that after running errands this morning I just don't feel it.. Not sure.
I did spend a lot of time in the studio this weekend. It was really nice.
So here is what I did. I know it's a short post, just not feeling it today.
