New Work!

I have some new work. I am out in the studio as I write this enjoying some time. I have completed a couple pieces (above) started a couple and have just generally been loving being out here. It's nice.

I am getting set for the kids to go back to school and having a more regular routine. I did pretty good at the beginning of summer, but it was getting a little easy to sleep in a bit these last couple of weeks. Then we had a guest which changed things again. Now we are waiting for school to begin and change things all over again. At least this change will be for a few months. I am really excited about it. More importantly my kids are really excited to go back to school which will make this transition so much easier.

As far my art I am feeling a little pressure because of the Skating with Scissors show on September 19. I want to make sure that I am really ready for it. I don't have my displays ready yet and I really need to work on that. I am going on the inexpensive side since this sort of a trial run to see how I do. I am nervous about it. This is my first show outside of my kids school show. That one isn't until November so I have some time to prepare for that. I just need to find that balance between getting ready for shows and updating my Etsy shop. I haven't done that in a while. I did sell another piece which feels really good.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

Countdown...

I am counting down until I have my house, my routine and my time back. I have had a house guest for the last week and I have a hard time sharing space. I like having my time to work and play. I like cooking in my own kitchen and being on my own sometimes. This is difficult when you are entertaining.

I have some new pieces I have made that I will post next week and inspiration for SOO many more. I can't wait to have my studio back. (I don't work well with people over my shoulder)

For those of you local PDX'ers who are arts and craftsers there is a fun event coming up in November. Here is the link: www.lewisevents.org

Still here...

I am still around. And I am still working on the house. I am out in my wonderful studio (ooh, how I miss it) and will be in here by the end of next week with some new work. I just need to finish my house to get ready for my mother in-law. Wow, it's amazing how things can look when you look at them thru other people's eyes. Sometimes that can be a really good thing and other times it can make you crazy. I think I am hitting the crazy time. I think I need to give myself a little break. I like things to be perfect and as those of you who read this know I don't have a perfectly cute existence. My life is messy, my house is messy and I don't usually mind it that way. I think I read too many blogs where people talk about how beautiful their homes, and their lives are. Not here. It's a messy existence I lead. I don't mind it. It's how my art comes from me. If it was all perfect my art would be VERY boring. There are times though where I wish I could say that things are perfect; my kids are perfect, my husband is a saint, and my house is as cute as can be. That is just not the case. I have many flaws and they are there all the time. I have found a rememdy for those times when you feel down and out and have to just accept who you are: THE RAMONES. Try it sometime. Nothing can make you feel better than a little Ramones to make you realize that instead of making your life look pretty you just got a dance around a little.

So, here it is my messy, crazy life. I think there are at least a few of you that can relate. At least I hope so!

Craziness and more craziness....

I have been painting like a fiend. Unfortunately it's not the fun painting I do out in my studio. It's the kind you do in your house because your mother in-law is coming for a visit and your house is looking a wee bit on the shabby side. So far so good, Dining room: check, Maggie's room: check, Max's room: check the rest of the house: MESS! I have my work cut out for me. Since I was painting all around I had to move stuff. All that stuff needs to go back to a home, but I honestly feel like just getting rid of all of it. Probably not the best idea. I should have taken pictures of what it looked like before all this craziness took place. I can say that it looks much better now.

I might be absent for a few days off and on. My poor Etsy shop is on a slow path right now. If you haven't checked it out please do! Maybe you will have some feedback for me. I know it takes a little while to get Etsy up and running. I unfortunately won't have a lot of time over the next couple of weeks to devote to it. With the show coming up it's going to be a crazy time. I am not sure how August and September ended up getting so busy. I can't believe that school will be starting back up in a little over a month! That just blows me away.

Ok, I have to run off again. I am making banana bread for camping and need to get it done pronto.

I am LOVING this cooler weather. I am looking forward to turning the oven on for the first time in a couple of weeks! I missed baking.
