New work..

"Samson"

"175"

I made it out to the studio today. Yesterday everyone had a cold (and the weekend) so I didn't get anything done. Today the kids are back at school.

Sometimes it takes me a long time to come up with a piece and other times I can just have a very small glimmer of an idea and then the piece is done. This happened to me twice today. I don't know how. I really thought I was going to be stuck. I didn't have anything coming into my head. Then I looked at all my melted encaustic waxes and all the different colors. Sometimes that all that it takes. Today that was all it took. I came up with two pieces. I just listed them in my Etsy shop.

Speaking of Etsy I think it's time to do some housecleaning on there. There are some photos that need to be retaken and some pieces that need to be pulled and maybe redone. Some of the pieces have been on there since I started my shop. I think that's a sign that they need to have something done with them. Now I just need to get the motivation to do it! Taking the pictures is fine, it's the editing and making sure the colors look the same etc.. that can be really boring.

I have a new header on my Etsy shop and on this blog. Josh is getting to be quite good at using photo editing software. He took one of my paintings and sectioned off a piece to create the header. I really like it. I think I might have him do it every so often to perk things up.

I hope you are having a very good week.

New stuff and a book

I finished my commission! I am going to try to get it out before the end of the week. Once the family has it and says it's alright I will post pictures.

I made some new things and finished another piece up today. I just posted them in my Etsy shop. I have had a strange week so it was good to get in the studio and focus on some art making. The ones above are the newest.
I might be a little behind on this, but I just finished reading this great book The Handmade Marketplace. It has a ton of information for people selling handmade. I was really inspired to get more proactive in my listing and blogging. Plus the books talks about organizing craft sales (which I have been helping with for the last 4 years) and how to get into them. I thought the advice was really well written and completely accurate. I checked this out from the library, but I think I am going to go buy it. I can see using this book a lot.

I am not sure if I will have anything to post until next week. The rest of the week is full of other not so fun things. I will be back here next week for sure.
